Gasquet Wildfire Resilience Program

Thanks to a grant from Coalitions & Collaboratives, Inc. the Del Norte Fire Safe Council was awarded funding for the Gasquet Wildfire Resilience Program.  This program is to train a sustainable volunteer workforce to create shaded fuel breaks on about 3.5 acres of land surrounding the communities water plant.  Additionally, this workforce will be reducing fuel loads on approximately 5 miles of roadways.

This project is critical not just for the wildfire defense, but also for the training needed to safely and sustainably continue this project into the future.  We expect to have this project completed by August 2023.
