Chipper Program
Del Norte Fire Safe Council is offering FREE Curbside Chipping to Del Norte County Communities. This service reduces wildfire risk by working with community members to properly dispose of hazardous vegetation growing near structures.
The Del Norte Fire Safe Council is a 501c3 Non-Profit. Our services are partly paid for by grants tied to specific areas. To expand our services to all the communities in our entire county everyone, we rely on tax-deductible donations from our community residents. If you like our work, please consider donating.

How It Works
In order to reach the most residents, please follow these steps.

Check the schedule to see what weekend your community is scheduled for.
Sign up below, or email aaron@delnortefsc.org to get on the list. We'll then work with you to arrange a time that works for everyone.
Don't see your community? Reach out and we'll help arrange a community program in your area.
Cut your vegetation
Cut your brush, trim branches, and remove small trees. We can chip up to 15" diameter, but it must be moveable by hand.
Try your best to keep material in 4' to 10' sections. Longer is better than shorter.
Place piles near a road
Place the vegetation you would like to chip within 10 feet of a road accessible to the chipper. Stack piles no more than 4' high with cut ends facing the road. Please to not tangle piles and do not use heavy equipment to build piles.
We must be able to access site with a full size pickup and 8000 lb chipper in tow.
Chipping
At the scheduled time we will chip you material. We cannot haul the chips so they must remain on site.
If you'd like to specify a specific location for the chips on your property please let us know.
