Join the Del Norte Prescribed Burn Association (PBA)
Community, Collaboration, and Good Fire!
The Del Norte Prescribed Burn Association (PBA) is all about bringing neighbors together to use controlled burns as a powerful tool for healthier forests and safer communities. Burning is more than just fire—it's a community event, where everyone can join in the effort, no experience required! Think of it like a barn raising: neighbors helping neighbors to achieve something big and meaningful.
The Role of the Del Norte Fire Safe Council
The Del Norte Fire Safe Council is here to support the PBA, not run it. We’re providing resources, guidance, and the expertise to make burns safe and effective:
-
Help with permits and burn plans.
-
Provide tools, safety gear, and equipment like drip torches.
-
Offer expert advice and oversight to ensure everything is done safely and by the book.
Why Join the Fun?
Burn days are a hands-on, exciting way to manage the land while connecting with your community. Trained experts oversee the burns, so you can jump in confidently and learn as you go. Whether you’re helping with prep work, being part of the firing team, working with tools, or just observing, there’s a role for everyone.
Together, we’re reducing wildfire risk, restoring forest health, and building a stronger, fire-wise community. So, come be part of the team—let’s put good fire to work and make a difference, one burn at a time!

Interested in Burning on Your Property?
Here's how it works.

Site Visit
The first step is to have one of us come out to your property to check out the area(s) you would like to introduce fire, discuss your goals and expectations, and talk about any preparation work needed. Request a site visit below.

Mapping and Burn Plans
The next step and most important part of the process is developing proper maps, establishing burn plans, and acquiring proper permits.

Prepping for burning
In order to meet the goals of burning on your property, preparation work may be necessary to both safely burn on your property, and ensure the end result will meet your expectations.

Bring back "Good Fire"
The final step after doing all the preparation is actually putting fire on the ground according to the burn plan and in coordination with our agencies and our PBA.
